About a year after merging with Cassidy Turley, the North Texas group that previously operated as Capstar Commercial Real Estate Services is shifting its home base from Uptown to Preston Center. Led by founding partners Bret Bunnett, Johnny Johnson, Chris Taylor, and John Patterson, the company is trading in about 10,000 square feet at 3500 Maple Avenue for 15,700 square feet on the top floor of Sherry Lane Place at 5956 Sherry Lane in Dallas. It will take occupancy of its new space this weekend.
Bunnett said the firm chose the property for a variety of reasons.
“It offered a central location for all of our team members, it’s a great asset owned by JPMorgan, an important client of the firm; and we’re getting a prominent location within the building,” he said. “It provides a quality, professional, and enjoyable environment for our people, with state-of-the-art technology. And it signifies a new chapter for us as Cassidy Turley.”
Staffelbach’s Andre Staffelbach and Jo Staffelbach Heinz personally designed the interiors.
“The office features exquisite views of the city and conveys a high degree of openness throughout,” Heinz said. “When in the space, one always walks toward light, a key design concept. Cassidy Turley is focused on growth and expansion, and we’re proud to have helped them create a work environment that supports collaboration and efficiency.”
2011 has been a big year for the commercial real estate firm, which traditionally has focused on landlord services. In the nearly 12 months since joining Cassidy Turley, the group has picked up 4.5 million square feet in leasing assignments, for a total of 18 million square feet of office space and 1 million square feet of industrial space in Dallas and Houston. (UPDATE: The firm has just been awarded leasing and management of the 1.2 million-square-foot Fountain Place in Dallas and the 1.3 million-square-foot Post Oak Center in Houston from JPMorgan, making it 7 million square feet in new assignments during 2011 for a total current portfolio of 21.5 million square feet.)
It has also made some big-name hires, including Blake Anderson, formerly with Grubb & Ellis, to head up industrial operations; and a team led by Greg Biggs and Randy Cooper, formerly with Cushman & Wakefield, to develop a statewide tenant representation division. It now has a total of about 130 employees.
Cassidy Turley is looking forward to an eventful 2012, too, Bunnett said.
“We are confident that we’ll continue to expand our service lines,” he said. “There is a lot of growth potential and intrigue in the market, and a lot of enthusiasm in the office.”
